Goldy Gopher dresses up for Halloween, draws criticism

Who doesn’t love a human-sized rodent who can stand on two feet and spin his head?

Well apparently, not if this human-sized rodent is dressed as Bane at the home football game against Purdue.

Goldy the Gopher displayed a deep wardrobe on Saturday, dressing up as Mario, a pirate, and a politician, among other fairly creative costumes.

But when Goldy came back from the locker room dressed as Bane, some fans became upset due to a scene in the latest Batman flick where Bane, the villain blew up a stadium.

Fortunately, nothing similar to the scene in the movie happened at the game and the Gophers stormed to a victory by scoring 44 unanswered points.

This might have been a bigger story had the Gophers lost that day, but whether it was done in bad taste or a great costume idea, Goldy definitely did not scare anyone when he stormed onto the field riding his signature white Segway.
