Gophers win Rodeo Bowl ahead of Texas Tech match up

The Gopher football team, ahead of its Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas match up with Texas Tech, already have taken home one trophy.

Minnesota won the Rodeo Bowl, an annual event organized by bowl staff, according to Gophers Sports.

The Rodeo Bowl is a seven-event competition against the opposing team. Events include Offensive Line Touchdown Dance Competition, Rope the Mascot, Chalk Branding, Calf Ribbon Pull and Hay Bale Toss, according to Paul Rovnak of Gopher media relations.

It is also the first time both teams come face -to-face before stepping onto the field.

Minnesota won the competition 5-2.

Is this an omen to a Gopher upset on Friday?

While no records were found of previous match ups, we can almost be certain that Goldy the Gopher will have a chip on his shoulder heading into Friday at Reliant Stadium following Minnesota’s Rodeo Bowl win in the Rope the Mascot competition
