Junior forward Erik Haula from Finland is “week to week” according to Star Tribune’s Michael Russo, who corresponded with head coach Don Lucia following the Gophers 8-1 win over Boston College Sunday night.

Russo reports that Haula, one of Minnesota’s most consistent players this season, may have a fracture in one of his fingers following a slash in the third period of Sunday night’s game. The incident was not penalized.

Lucia said he is doubtful the Minnesota Wild prospect will be able to play Jan. 8 against No. 3 Notre Dame at Mariucci Arena.

The loss of Haula will be a blow to the Gophers, especially against a top ranked opponent.

Haula led the team in points and shots in his sophomore campaign, totaling 49 points and 152 shots in 2011-12.

The 5-foot-11-inch Haula was drafted in 2009 by the Wild in the 7th round.
