Wally Ellenson will be sidelined again, this time, up to two weeks following an Achilles strain sustained during the opening half of the game against Michigan State.

Ellenson, a freshman from Rice Lake, WI who had his redshirt burned after recovering from a broken hand that put him out for the first 11 games of the season, has not had the season he was hoping for when he and his parents asked coach Tubby Smith to play him this season.

The six-foot-four, high-flying guard has seen limited minutes since coming back from injury, playing a total of 36 minutes in six games for the Golden Gophers, scoring 12 combined points in those games.

Ellenson’s absence will not put any strain on the Gophers as he had been in the game in mostly low-risk situations, but it’s certainly a disappoint for fans.
