After splitting an away series to St. Cloud State over the weekend, the Gopher men’s hockey team fell from their No. 1 ranking of six weeks to No. 2.

Quinnipiac University is the new No. 1 as Minnesota swapped places this week with the school from Connecticut.

Wisconsin is listed at No. 18 in the USCHO rankings and will host the Gophers on Friday before the two teams take the last game of the series to Chicago for the Hockey City Classic on Sunday afternoon.

With eight games remaining until the first round of the WCHA Tournament, the Gophers are looking good, despite Saturday’s 4-3 loss to the Huskies.

Following the Hockey City Classic at Soldier Field, the last six games for Minnesota will all be in-state. The Gophers will play four of those games at Mariucci Arena and the final two contests will be in Bemidji against Bemidji State.
