It is rare to have two aces on a pitching staff.

It is even more rare to have two lefties top a college starting rotation.

With the Gophers heading to no. 12 UCLA this weekend to open the baseball season, Minnesota will usher out its two star pitchers, Tom Windle and DJ Snelten.

According to Baseball America, Minnesota has two players in the conference top-10.  Both pitchers are expected to be drafted early in the 2013 MLB draft.

Windle, a junior from Maple Grove, is the top prospect within the Big Ten Conference.  The 6-foot-4 junior  held a 3.27 ERA last season in limited action.

After Windle was sidelined with a shoulder injury, Snelten was the most stable pitcher on the Gophers starting staff last season.  The junior claimed a 3.24 ERA in 86 innings.

Snelten is ranked as the fourth best prospect in the conference.

Next weekend, Minnesota will be begin its three-week homestand at the Metrodome.  The Gopher will begin Big Ten play at home on April 6 at the new Siebert Field.
