Gophers recruit Gavin Schilling commits to Michigan State

As expected, three-star Class of 2013 recruit Gavin Schilling made the announcement about his college decision Wednesday afternoon.

Via Twitter, the Findlay Prep star announced he will commit with the Michigan State Spartans.

Schilling, a power forward who was born in Germany, had listed the Gophers as one of four finalists. Schilling and Gopher commit Alex Foster are friends but despite this, it was not enough to draw Schilling to Minnesota.

Among the other finalists for Schilling’s services were Villanova and UCLA.

Rumors earlier in the week suggested Schilling was leaning towards Michigan State so the announcement today does not come as a big surprise.

But the decision certainly hurts the Gophers, who are still looking for help in the front court especially with Trevor Mbakwe and Andre Ingram graduating.
