The Gophers’ Rodney Williams has been selected to compete in the College Slam Dunk Contest over Final Four weekend in Atlanta, Ga.

The event will be held Thursday, April 4 and will be nationally televised on ESPN.

Twenty-four (24) of the nation’s top dunkers and long range shooters come together in Atlanta to compete in the Hampton Hotel’s Men’s 3-Point Shooting Championship, State Farm Women’s 3-Point Shooting Championship, Pepsi MAX Battle of the Champions and the Denny’s Slam Dunk Competition.

In 2012, James Justice of Martin Methodist won the dunk contest and in 2011, Big Ten’s John Shurna of Northwestern University took home top honors.

The winner of the dunk contest will be determined by a combination of a panel of judges and fan reaction on Twitter.

Williams has had no problem in the past getting people amped up on Twitter. His in-game dunks have been highlighted on SportsCenter’s Top 10 multiple times in his career (as the video above proves).

The senior from Minneapolis, Williams has had 164 dunks in his career as a Gopher and has often been named in the conversation of best dunkers in the Big Ten all-time.

Williams will be a favorite heading into the contest and should be a familiar name with fans.
