Gopher Basketball: Former Rutgers commit among top targets for 2013

Following the aftermath of the Mike Rice firing, several Rutgers targets have decided to look elsewhere. Point guard Shane Rector is one of several decommits — he was offered a scholarship by the Gophers on Sunday.

Assistant coach Kimani Young’s connections to the NYC area could already come in handy as the Gophers look to add point guard depth in the 2013-14 season.
Minnesota will battle Butler and Missouri along with several other schools for Rector.
