The Legends and Leaders divisions will be no more, instead replaced by East and West as Maryland and Rutgers are set to join the Big Ten conference in 2014.

The Big Ten West division would include Minnesota, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Northwestern, Purdue and Wisconsin according to ESPN. The East would consist of Indiana, Maryland, Michigan State, Penn State, Rutgers, and will restore the rivalry between Ohio State and Michigan.

The current division names, enacted in 2010 following the entrance of Nebraska, have not been embraced by fans. The proposed realignment would be more logical and won’t cause an uproar from the schools or fans.
