Eric Decker is the next ex-Gopher athlete to appear in a reality television as reported by the NFL last week.

Decker, the fourth-year wide receiver for the Peyton Manning-led Denver Broncos, has signed on with E! for a show called “Love and Other Contact Sports: Eric and Jessie.” Jessie is county music star Jessie James, Decker’s fiancee.

“The series will chronicle the sexy young couple’s road to the altar as they juggle careers, relationships, family and more,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. Broncos executive vice president of football operations, John Elway, gave Decker his blessings saying that he believes Decker’s new venture in entertainment will not affect his play on the field.

Decker joins an exclusive club of professional athletes whose off-the-field lifestyle has attracted the attention of cable television deals. But while Decker is now being mentioned in the same sentence as reality television stars (less professional athlete) Lamar Odum and Kris Humphries, we can only hope Decker doesn’t go down the same route as those two (it helps that Decker is not engaged to a Kardashian too).

P.S. Ex-Gopher Kris Humphries deserves a post of his own if we’re talking about reality television.
