Gophers Volleyball and Soccer cap off Homecoming week with big wins

Both the University of Minnesota’s women’s volleyball and soccer teams celebrated big wins on Sunday to cap off Homecoming week.

It started with the women’s soccer team upsetting 13th ranked Michigan on the road.  Olivia Schultz scored on a corner kick in the 37th minute.  The Gophers were also aided by a big day from freshman goalkeeper Tarah Hobbs, who had five saves on the day.  The team now returns home where they will face Ohio State Friday night and then go up against Penn State on Sunday.

Meanwhile on campus, the women’s volleyball team swept the No. 20 Purdue Boilermakers to improve to 2-0 in Big Ten play.

In Other News…

  • The No. 19 Minnesota women’s cross country team took fourth place at the Griak Invitational. Arizona took first place followed by Michigan State and Butler. The Gophers will compete in the  UW-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational and the SDSU Invitational this weekend.
