The Minnesota Golden Gophers (3-1) will open their Big Ten schedule with a big challenge, as they’ll hit the road to take on 4-0 and 16th-ranked Northwestern Wildcats on Saturday. The marquee win for the Wildcats to this point came in their season opener, as they beat Stanford 16-6.

Here’s your guide to the game, with odds and broadcast map. Kickoff is scheduled for around 11 a.m. Central Time.

Point Spread: Northwestern (-4)
Over/Under: 40 (Vegas Insider.com)

Television: Big Ten Network
Announcers: Scott Graham (play-by-play), Glen Mason (analyst) and J. Leman (sideline)

Radio (Minnesota)-KFAN-FM, 100.3-Gopher Radio Network
Announcers: Mike Grimm (play-by-play), Darrell Thompson (analyst) and Justin Gaard (sideline)

Radio (Northwestern)- WNUR-FM, 89.3-WNUR Sports.com

Assuming the typical three-point spread strictly for having home field advantage, it’s a little surprising to me that a top-20 team like Northwestern is not favored by more over a Golden Gophers’ squad that narrowly beat two MAC teams. With two strong defenses on the field points will be hard to come by on Saturday, and if I were willing to bet I’d take the under on the over-under.

Mason has been a Big Ten Network analyst for a while now, but as a former Golden Gophers’ head coach fans of the team surely remember him well. Current coach Jerry Kill has things back on track, but the failures of Tim Brewster as his immediate successor should make us all use hindsight to appreciate what Mason accomplished during his tenure.
