NOV 21, 2011; Minneapolis, MN, USA; Minnesota Gophers forward Trevor Mbakwe (32) brings down a rebound in the first half against Mount St. Mary

When it was all said and done, Trevor Mbakwe did not have to see jail time.

After a few day delay, the details to the trial of Gopher power forward Trevor Mbakwe were released.

On Friday, Oct. 19, Mbakwe was finally sentenced after violating his probation on July 1 in Minnetonka.

The forward received two more years of probation and no jail time.

He was originally put on probation in Florida after having a felony charge in 2009.  Mbakwe was still on probation at the beginning of July.

As of now, there is no statement from coach Tubby Smith on the Mbakwe situation.

The judge, Jose Fernandez, had this to say at the hearing: “You’re not a cat; you don’t have nine lives. You’re going to do something and it’s going to be the end of any chances you have. This may be it; this may be your last chance.”

Mbakwe had this to say in his statement: “I can’t say it enough, but I am extremely grateful that I have been given another chance,” Mbakwe said in a statement. “I realize that this has been a trying experience for many, including the Gopher Nation. I want to thank my family, Coach Smith and many others at the University of Minnesota for standing by me. I am glad that I have the opportunity to put this behind me and move on.”
