The 2012 All-Big Ten Conference football teams were announced Monday, following the conclusion of regular season games this past weekend.

While no University of Minnesota Gophers were on the roster for either the first or second team for the Coaches Team, redshirt senior defensive lineman D.L. Wilhite was named to the Media Team’s second team.

Several Gophers players received honorable mentions from both coaches and the media.

From the media, defensive backs Michael Carter and Troy Stoudermire were given an honorable mention along with defensive end Ra’Shede Hageman.

Only Carter was given an honorable mention from the coaches.

Of the four that were named, all are defensive players – so no Donnell Kirkwood, MarQueis Gray, Philip Nelson or even A.J. Barker.

This certainly goes to show how the Minnesota offense is viewed in the eyes of fellow coaches and media members.

The 6-6 Gophers will likely face Texas Tech in the Meineke Car Care Bowl on Dec. 28. Carter and the Minnesota secondary will see a high-powered pass offense fr0m the Red Raiders, who are averaging more than 360 pass yards per game.
