Tubby Smith gets win No. 500 against USC

Minnesota basketball head coach Tubby Smith won career game No. 500 Saturday on the road against USC, 71-57.

Smith has been a college head coach since 1991 but he has accumulated more than a fifth of his wins as the Gophers head coach.

His No. 14 Gophers are 10-1 and look to take a high ranking into conference play with the opener against Michigan State set for New Year’s Eve.
