Gopher wide receiver Andre McDonald will not play in the Meineke Car Care Bowl on Friday against the Texas Tech Red Raiders after violating team policies.

The true freshman from Hopkins has 10 catches for 121 yards this season. McDonald, a three-star recruit, was offered many scholarships out of Hopkins High School but has so-far posted an underwhelming season while struggling to stay healthy.

McDonald did not make the trip to Houston.

Texas Tech also announced three players that would sit out of the game for violating team policies. Defensive back Cornelius Douglas, linebacker Chris Payne and defensive tackle Leon Mackey will not play.

Douglas is the only starter suspended. A senior from Oklahoma, he has two interceptions on the season, both in a game against Iowa State.
