MarQueis Gray’s college football career came to an end last Friday — but on Monday, he announced via Twitter that he was invited to the NFL Combine:
While providing no other details, it is possible Gray is headed to the National Scouting Combine in Indianapolis Feb. 20, according to the Star Tribune’s Phil Miller.
I’m sure many, as well as myself, are interested in what position he could end up playing as a professional. His physicality makes him suited to play offense and defense as a linebacker.
Gray, originally from Indianapolis gave up his quarterback position this season to line up wide — another potential suit for Gray, who is 6-feet-4-inches and weighs 250 pounds. Tight end and quarterback are also potential possibilities but it’s likely Gray is no more than a Wildcat quarterback at best in that role.
Other Gophers expected to be under the eye’s of pro scouts are cornerbacks Troy Stoudermire and Michel Carter, linebackers Keanon Cooper and Mike Rallis, defensive end D.L. Wilhite, and tight end John Rabe.
