The 17th annual Timberwolves Shootout held Saturday at Target Center featured the top two recruits from Minnesota in a match up between Apple Valley and Robbinsdale Cooper high schools.

Top 10 recruits Tyus Jones of Apple Valley and Rashad Vaughn of Robbinsdale Cooper played against one another in the final game of the event.

Apple Valley, led by a beat-up Jones, came back from a nine-point deficit with 12 minutes remaining to win 80-70.

Jones finished the game with 18 points and nine assists while playing limited minutes.

Vaughn finished with 35 points, putting on a show for the Target Center crowd —  many who came to watch the two five-star recruits play.

Gopher head coach Tubby Smith was in attendance, and for good reason, as he tries to sway some of the best talent from Minnesota to stay in-state.

Smith had some company at the game as North Carolina coach Roy Williams showed up after tip-off and sat next to Smith.

Several current Gophers also showed up to the game, including Trevor Mbakwe, Rodney Williams, Joe Coleman, Oto Osenieks and Charles Buggs, according to Nate Sandell of 1500 ESPN.
