The Gophers won their Friday night match up at Mariucci Arena against Alaska-Anchorage, 4-3, following a power play goal by Ben Marshall with 50 seconds remaining in regulation.

There were several lead changes in the game as Alaska striked first with a goal in the first period before Minnesota responded with two of its own in the second.

Down a goal entering the final period, the Seawolves scored two more goals in the first half of the period to regain the lead. The Gophers needed two power play goals — the former by Bjugstad with under three minutes to go — to win.

The Gophers converted 3-of-6 on power plays and out-shot the Seawolves 30 to 20.

The series finale will be played on Saturday at 7 p.m. CT
