Gopher wrestlers lose to Iowa on tiebreak

In a highly-anticipated bout between border rivals, the Iowa Hawkeyes pulled out a victory over the Gophers through a tiebreak on Saturday, 16-15.

More than 8,000 fans were in attendance as the matches were held in Williams Arena and broadcasted on the Big Ten Network.

The Hawkeyes put up nine points before the Gophers answered as Dylan Ness defeated Michael Kelly at 149 pounds.

Minnesota’s top-weighted wrestlers anchored the team as the Gophers won all four matches starting at 174 lbs with sophomore Logan Storley beating Mike Evans.

Heavyweight Tony Nelson won his match over Bobby Telford to tie it at 15.

Minnesota’s final home bout is scheduled for next Sunday against Michigan State.
