With less than a second left, the leader of the Gopher women’s basketball team took the final shot with the team down by one point.

Sophomore guard Rachel Banham drilled a jumper with 0.02 seconds to play as Minnesota beat the Ohio State Buckeyes Thursday evening in a must-win game for the Gophers.

Banham would finish the game with 17 points and eight rebounds, but most importantly, the team broke a two-game losing streak.

The win also was the Gophers’ first Big Ten season sweep of the Buckeyes, whose record is just a little worse than Minnesota’s at 14-12 overall and 4-9 in the conference.

Minnesota, now 16-11 overall and 5-8 in the Big Ten, will face Purdue on Sunday at Williams Arena — one of the last three regular season games for the Gophers as the Big Ten Championship starts the second week of March.
