Former University of Delaware assistant coach Ryan Iversen went big and predicted that current VCU coach Shaka Smart will be sign with the Gophers “‘within a few days.”

Besides being credited as “well connected,” Iversen was a standout prep hoops star at Eden Prairie High School who transferred from the University of Minnesota to Delaware as a player in the early 2000s.

He resigned as the assistant coach of UD in 2007 and returned to Minnesota, according to the university.

What to think of this prediction?

It’s impossible to know for sure just how well connected and accurate Iversen is, but fans should take this with a grain of salt.

Undoubtedly, Minnesota wants to hire Shaka Smart but competition is stiff as UCLA is looking to fill their coaching vacancy as well.

The Bruins and Gophers are good candidates for Smart if he decides to leave VCU. It’s up to Teague to sell him on the Gophers.
