Gopher Basketball: Pitino Heavily Recruiting East Coast
By Jon Volker
Gopher coach Richard Pitino is making a heavy push in recruiting on the East Coast.
After landing Baltimore native Daquein McNeil, Pitino has made several offers to prep standouts along the Atlantic. A big reason for this rise is assistant Kimani Young’s connections to New York. Newly named assistant Dan McHale also has roots along the east coast.
Among the recruits the Gophers are after are forward Terry Larrier and guard Kaleb Joseph. Kaleb Joseph is a highly sought after shooting guard from Massachusetts. The four-star recruit has offers from Syracuse, Tennessee, Kansas State and has also drawn interest from Duke and Georgetown. Joseph is also listed in ESPN’s Top 60. Larrier, a 6-foot-7 small forward from Pennsylvania, has also received interest from Georgetown, and has offers from Miami (FL), Pittsburgh, Texas, and VCU. Both recruits would be recruited for the Class of 2014.
