Class of 2014 recruit, Tyus Jones, says he is still considering the Gophers despite the coaching change. The rising senior at Apple Valley High School is leading the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League with averages of 23.2 points and 6.8 assists per game.
Jones played in Minneapolis over the long-weekend as part of EYBL and dominated the field, leading his AAU Howard Pulley to four victories according to early reports that had not been updated as of the last day of play.
The 6-foot-1 point guard is fielding offers from Baylor, Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan State, Ohio State and UCLA in addition to Minnesota.
Along with teammate and fellow Minnesotan, Reid Travis, the two prep stars lead the Big 3 of the state’s 2014 recruiting class along with Rashad Vaughn.
- The Gopher baseball team was eliminated from the Big Ten Tournament last Friday, but the players in the dugout managed to have some fun before it was all over. The Big Ten Network captured what some players did behind coach John Anderson as he was giving a live interview.

- The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association named redshirt senior Cassuc Drozynski to the CRCA All-Central Region First Team. Eight other Gopher rowers were named as CRCA National Scholar Athletes.
- And while we’re on the topic of all-regional teams, Erik Van Rooyen, a men’s golfer, was named to the PING All-Region Team by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
