Gophers and OSU to play outdoor hockey game in 2014

As we mentioned last week and as others have confirmed, the Gophers are taking big steps towards hosting an outdoor hockey game in 2014.
The game would be held at TCF Bank Stadium on Jan. 18, 2014 against the Ohio State Buckeyes in what some have speculated would be a test run for an NHL Winter Classic.
According to multiple sources, test run for a future NHL Winter Classic will be Jan. 18, #Gophers vs. Ohio State, TCF Bank Stadium.

The date of the game falls on Hockey Day Minnesota which will be in its eighth year this upcoming January.
While the event has not been officially announced yet, its fair to assume an announcement of some sort will be made within the next few weeks containing more details about ticket sales and possibly other festivities planned with the outdoor game.
In Other News…
Several Gophers were named to the roster for the U.S. Olympic Hockey Camp scheduled for the end of August in Arlington, Va. In total, 14 Minnesotans were named.
Gopher men’s basketball is expected to release its full schedule for the upcoming season within the next week.
