University of Minnesota set to officially announce outdoor hockey game

Official word from the University of Minnesota on an outdoor hockey game is finally coming, according to the Star Tribune on Friday.

Minnesota will announce an outdoor hockey game at a press conference slated for Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. CT. The date of the hockey game and the opponent, which has been long rumored to be against Ohio State, will be announced and likely scheduled for a day between Jan. 17-19.

The press conference will be held at TCF Bank Stadium which will also likely be the location for the outdoor game.

The Gophers played an outdoor game in February at Soldier Field in Chicago as part of the Hockey City Classic.
