Rakeem Buckles’ transfer waiver appeal denied by NCAA

Florida International University power forward Rakeem Buckles was denied an appeal to transfer to the University of Minnesota to play for Richard Pitino this upcoming season.

The news of the appeal, which comes on the first day of classes for student-athletes at Minnesota, is likely the final blow for Buckles’ chances of becoming a Golden Gopher.
The 6-foot-7, 215 pound Miami-native last played in the 2011-12 season where he appeared in 11 games for Louisville. He has undergone two major knee surgeries in recent years in addition to a broken finger.
