Gophers’ target Paul White commits to Georgetown
By Frank Bi
Class of 2014 recruit Paul White committed to the Georgetown Hoyas over the weekend. The 6-foot-8 forward from Chicago had recently reopened his recruitment but stuck with the Hoyas, who were one of five schools White originally listed as finalists.
Ranked as the 57th best player in his class, the four-star recruit maintained a list of five programs he considered finalists for his talents, including the Gophers, Arizona, UConn, DePaul and Georgetown.
White had a tough summer, breaking his arm in the Nike Peach Jam in July, which hampered his recruitment. Several teams that were high on him seemed to focus their attention elsewhere following the injury. Many close to the situation suggested that White was underwhelmed by the commitment. Georgetown, in particular, had buzz around it as a team that focused its attention elsewhere after the injury.
Nevertheless, White made a visit to the Washington D.C. campus last week and told the Chicago Sun Times that he felt at home at Georgetown, which led to the decision at the end of the week.
