Gophers women’s hockey extend streak to 51-games; Men win exhibition over Lethbridge

The University of Minnesota Gophers women’s hockey team extended their winning streak to 51-games following a sweep of Colgate over the weekend in upstate New York.
In the first series of the regular season, the Gophers defeated Colgate 3-1 and 8-3 on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
Junior Rachel Bona went on a tear against Colgate, recording seven points and scoring four goals in the two games.
Minnesota will host Wisconsin next in the regular season home opener at Ridder Arena on Friday and Saturday of this week.
Men’s Hockey Defeats Lethbridge
The Minnesota men won their only exhibition game of the season as they downed Lethbridge at Mariucci Arena on Saturday by a score of 5-1.
Freshman Hudson Fasching scored the first goal for Minnesota less than seven minutes into the first period. He finished the game with two points.
Juniors Travis Boyd and Ben Marshall also finished with two points apiece. Boyd scored a goal late in the second period, which ended up becoming the game winning goal.
The Gophers will play in the Ice Breaker Tournament next weekend at Mariucci Arena to start the regular season.
