Former Hopkins High School stand out Royce White made his not-so-much anticipated debut as a member of the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday. In 10 minutes of action, White put up five points before getting benched for drawing a fifth foul.
In a 1:27 stretch, White was called on four fouls — bad enough to be its own highlight on SportsCenter (possibly Not Top 10 material?).
White ended up scoring five points on 2-of-6 shooting while grabbing three rebounds in a 97-85 win over the Boston Celtics.
The 22-year-old had recently come under fire for allegedly assaulting an ex-girlfriend. It’s safe to say, things haven’t been the best for White, who notoriously stole a laptop from a dorm as a Gopher, not to mention the cloths he was caught stealing from the Mall of America back in 2009.
Speaking of former Gophers, the Celtics and 76ers matchup featured two alumni. Kris Humphries (note that he’s also of Hopkins HS) started for the Celtics and scored four points in 15 minutes.
On the bench in a suit sitting next to Nerlens Noel was Rodney Williams, who has yet to make his preseason debut.
