Reid Travis to decide between Gophers and two other programs on Friday

Judgment day is near. Reid Travis, one of the most highly sought after in-state recruits in recent memory is making his decision this Friday at his high school at 3:30 p.m. CT.

As we get closer to a decision, there’s been a lot of speculation about where he’s going. The decision comes down to Duke, Minnesota, and Stanford but Travis has revealed very little about where he will take his talents.

On Monday, Evan Daniels of Fox reported that the decision would come down to Stanford and Minnesota. Little reasoning was provided but it caused the trend of recruiting analysts switching their lean to Minnesota.

Another point of interest: on Tuesday night, Patrick Reuse tweeted that if Reid allows the public to attend his announcement at De La Salle High School, it would be unlikely that Reid would choose a school other than Minnesota. Along with attending the recent Gophers scrimmage, he is scheduled to shadow classes at Carlson School of Management. All these things lead me to believe Minnesota is the frontrunner.

Duke: The rumors that Duke is in disfavor with Travis are untrue. After missing out with Kevon Looney, Coach K stepped up his recruiting efforts on Travis.

Stanford: Despite being the lesser talked about program with a coach on the hot seat, Travis’ commitment to academic excellence gives Stanford an edge.

Minnesota: His trips to campus were a clear indication of his interest. He’s bought into Richard Pitino’s vision and likes the direction of the program.
