Gophers Football: Photos from Minnesota’s win over Penn State

With a 24-10 win over the Penn State Nittany Lions on Saturday, the Minnesota Golden Gophers move to 8-2 on the season and into the final position of the USA Today Top 25 Coaches Poll. It was Military Appreciation Day at TCF Bank Stadium and the nationally ranked Gophers sported a red, white, and blue Block-M on their helmets in support of the U.S. military.

Minnesota running back David Cobb rushed for 139 yards on 27 carries and one touchdown. It was his fourth straight game rushing for over 100 yards. Quarterback Philip Nelson had another solid game, going 15-for-24 on his passes for 186 yards and one touchdown to freshman tight end Maxx Williams.

The Gophers also earned the Governor’s Victory Bell with the win over Penn State. Claiming the trophy for the first time since 2004. The Nittany Lions had won the previous four meetings over Minnesota.
