As first reported by GopherIllustrated.com, Minnesota received a commitment from Jerry Gibson on Friday, a two-star athlete from Alabama. The 6-foot-3 220 pound senior from Theodore High School runs a 4.72 second 40-yard dash and has a vertical of 40 inches, according to his Rivals profile.
Gibson, a tight end in high school, could play that position again in college, but could also be used as a wide receiver or at other offensive positions, giving his frame and athletic abilities.
Along with Minnesota, Gibson also received offers from Iowa, Louisiana Tech and Southern Miss.
He’s the 10th commit in Minnesota’s Class of 2014 and is the second to commit this month. Less than a week ago, the Gophers’ received a verbal commitment from defensive end Julien Kafo.
