The Minnesota Gophers will wrap up their regular season on Saturday on the road in East Lansing against No. 11 Michigan State. While no titles are on the line in the finale, the Gophers will be playing for a better bowl game while the Spartans — who reserved their spot in the Big Ten championship game in a win last week — will try and keep their conference record perfect on the season.
Minnesota, at 8-3 and 4-3 in the Big Ten, is coming off of a harrowing loss to Wisconsin at home last weekend in which the offense failed to score a point as the Gophers fell to the border rivals, 20-7. It was the 10th straight loss to Wisconsin.
If the Gophers can win on Saturday, they’ll be looking good for a New Year’s bowl game.
As for the Spartans, they defeated Northwestern last weekend, 30-6, thereby clinching the Legends Division crown and setting them up with a game against Ohio State on Dec. 7 for the Big Ten conference championship. At 10-7 overall and 7-0 in the conference, they can extend their current winning streak to eight games with a win.
