Coming off a home win over Florida State in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge, the Gophers will host the New Orleans Privateers of the Southland Conference on Saturday at Williams Arena.

The Privateers are 1-3 this season, and are on a three-game losing streak after dropping to Hawaii more than a week ago. Meanwhile, the Gophers are 7-2 overall and currently rank sixth in the Big Ten standings.

This is the first meeting between the two programs, but for Minnesota, it will be the eighth time the Gophers have played an opponent from the Southland Conference — Minnesota is undefeated in those match ups.

Saturday’s matinee will be the first of four games against mid-major opponents before Minnesota opens the Big Ten season at home against Michigan on Jan. 2, 2014.
