ICYMI: Austin Hollins’ one-handed alley-oop versus New Orleans
By Frank Bi
It’s looking like the Gophers have a new alley-oop goto.
For the past few years, it was Rodney Williams. But he graduated last year and there was no reason to believe that the rim-rocking vacuum he left behind would ever be filled again. Then, out of nowhere, senior guard Austin Hollins made his case on a three-on-two fastbreak versus the New Orleans Privateers.
The dunk was No. 4 on SportsCenter’s Top 10 on Saturday but no doubt No. 1 for Minnesota, just ten games into the season.
Hollins, who’s known more for knocking down three-pointers (including five-straight against Northwestern last year), is off to the best season of his career, averaging 13.2 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists for 8-2 Minnesota.
