There’s not a lot of Golden Gophers in the NFL, but a pretty prominent one will be returning to his old stomping grounds this upcoming season.

The NFL schedule was released on Wednesday and even though we knew who the Vikings were playing, we didn’t know when. We now know that ex-Gopher wide out Eric Decker will return to TCF Bank Stadium on Sunday, December 7 as a member of the New York Jets.

Decker is a brand new New York Jet signing a five-year $36.25 million contract in March after appearing in the Super Bowl with the Denver Broncos.

In case you were wondering, there are currently a handful of Gophers in the League. Marcus Sherels is known in these here parts for being a handy return man and corner for the Minnesota Vikings. Matt Spaeth is playing with the Pittsburgh Steelers, ex-Gophers quarterback MarQueis Grey is now a tight end for the Cleveland Browns and linebacker Simoni Lawrence has just signed with the Vikings in February.

There is a possibility of three Gophers on the field at The Bank on December 7. Hopefully, we don’t all freeze.
