Brock Vereen Drafted By The Chicago Bears

Another day, another former Golden Gopher Football player is taken in the NFL Draft. On Day Three of the football spectacular, Brock Vereen was taken by the Chicago Bears in the fourth round with the 131st pick.

Vereen will be playing inside the Minnesota Vikings’ division which means that he will make at least two appearances at TCF Bank Stadium in the next two seasons. The Bears take on the Vikings at TCF Bank Stadium on December 28 this upcoming season.

The defensive back has been a major part of the Gophers defense for three years and has seen action in the last four. Last season, Vereen recorded a total of 41 solo tackles and 59 total. Vereen put up his best career numbers in 2011 with 46 solo tackles and 67 total. Vereen has snatched an interception a piece over the last three years.

In his Gopher career, Vereen notched 200 total tackles, 127 of them were solo, and 7.5 of those tackles were for a loss. Vereen recorded three interceptions in his career and deflected 24 passes.

The Bears finished last season 8-8, second place in the NFC North. Chicago has not made the playoff since 2010.
