1. QB Mitch Leidner

If Leidner had played better in the first half against Colorado State, and more consistently throughout the game, the Gophers could easily have come home with a decisive win. Illinois quarterback Wes Lunt was efficient (11-for-19) and productive (162 passing yards and four touchdowns) against Kent State in their first game of the season, and Leidner needs to do the same on Saturday. Otherwise his status as the starter, with conference play on the horizon, will be seriously questioned.
