Head coach Jerry Kill is building a solid 2016 recruiting class, and the latest addition came with Minneapolis North’s Tyler Johnson commitment on Sunday afternoon. Johnson ranked as theNo. 2 recruit in Minnesota, made his commitment official on Twitter:

Johnson had other offers from Iowa, Iowa State, Wisconsin and North Dakota State. He was rated asa three-star recruitby Rivals, and he is listed at 6’2″ and 179 pounds. He is playing quarterback right now, but he seems likely to move to another position at Minnesota andwide receiver, safety and cornerbackhave been offered as potential options.
The Golden Gophers’ 2016 recruiting class now has 18 players in it, and Johnson is the 10th in the group from Minnesota. Kill and his staff are closing the borders in-state and keeping some good recruits home, which is good news.
