Gopher Week in Photos: Men’s and Women’s BB enter conference play

The women’s basketball team opened their Big Ten Conference schedule on the road with a 66-51 loss to Michigan State on Jan. 3. But the Gophers would travel to Madison in their second conference game, beating the Badgers 60-55 on Jan. 6. Minnesota is 12-4 overall.

Austin Hollins and the No. 8 Gopher men’s team beat Northwestern on Sunday at Williams Arena, winning 69-51, despite scoring only 17 points in the first half. Hollins propelled the Gophers to a 52-point second half by hitting five consecutive three-pointers. Wednesday night, the Gophers beat No. 12 Illinois, 84-67 to start conference play 3-0.

Royce White is suspended by the Houston Rockets for “refusing to provide services” as required by contract. The former Gopher and Minnesota Mr. Basketball has still not played a regular season minute for the Rockets as the sides continue to work out a way to deal with White’s anxiety issues.
