5. QB Demry Croft
Croft is a true freshman, but he reportedly worked with the Gophers’ second-team offense during pre-game warmups last Saturday. The potential for a one-sided game may give another quarterback a chance to play during the second half against Kent State, and it won’t be worth risking an injury to Mitch Leidner in that situation. Croft could be the No. 2 quarterback ahead of Chris Streveler on Saturday, if the Gophers’ coaching staff is willing to take a chance by burning his ability to be redshirted.
